Netgear FVL328 Firmware 2.0 R02 note describes enhancements and bug fixes incorporated in the FVL328 Software Version 2.0 Release 02. The enhancements and fixes are those added since Version 1.5 Release 08.Note: A factory reset is required after upgrading, please see instructions belowNew Features Overview * Please refer to newly updated manual for detail on how to use the new features listed below. Netgear FVL328 Firmware 2.0 R02 is available on the Netgear website at: * http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/FVL328.asp * Multi-DMZ (One-to-One DMZ) – Up to 7 different WAN IPs can be mapped, one-to-one, to up to 7 private LAN IPs. * Traffic meter – Resettable WAN traffic meter with programmable traffic limit. Can block traffic or send email when limit reached * VPN Wizard – Simplifies VPN setup, uses VPN Consortium (VPNC) defaults. * Four groups for keyword blocking * IP-MAC access control – IP can be linked with MAC address so the same PC will always get the same IP address when using DHCP. * Port Triggering * Checkbox for Automatic Daylight Savings time adjustment. * Clearer VPN status page with Connect/Drop button. * Advanced email settings – now supports authentication, can change from address. * Support for PPPoE with static IP address. * Trace route support added in diagnostic page. * On services page, if Finish port number is blank then the Start port number is used (but there is a bug with Netgear FVL328 Firmware 2.0 R02 feature, see below). * Allow broadcast IP for Syslog. * If email enabled to send logs, log will be sent if router is rebooted. * Added checkbox to enable/disable DNS proxy on the Rules page. * Period (.) can now be used to advance IP address, like using Tab.Modifications and Bug Fixes 1. Fixed various problems with configuration restore 2. Fixed various problems with buttons not functioning with Safari 1.1 (v100) 3. Fixed problems where when email enabled, email would be sent when the log was full even if “Send logs according to this schedule” was set to “None”, and not sent if set to “Hourly” or “Daily” 4. In the Diagnostics page, ping will now function using addresses ending in 255 5. Fixed Services range to include ports 0..65535. 6. Added DHCP lease time on Router Status, WAN status page, as well as release / renew buttons 7. Fixed issue which had resulted in bogus logs including First TCP Packet not SYN, TCP preconnect traffic, etc. 8. Fixed logging problems resulting from moving inbound/outbound rules 9. Fixed a problem where an NTP request would be sent when the IP address changed 10. Fixed a problem with trace route when running on the PC client or in the router’s Diagnostic menu 11. Fixed a problem where the WAN port did not respond to ping even though the function was enabled in the WAN setup menu 12. Preshared key in IKE policy now hidden, no longer displayed as text 13. Fixed a problem where WAN setup, Port Speed was manually set to 10M Full but functioned as 10/100 auto 14. Fixed status page display when using ngDDNS dynamic DNS service 15. Fixed a problem where the FVL328 would not route if the DHCP assigned WAN IP was the same IP as the gateway (for example working with the DM602) 16. DHCP force/renew now supported (for example working with DM602) 17. DNS server is now listed on WAN status page when WAN is DHCP client 18. Fixed a problem working with Cuseeme. 19. Added support for fixed IP with login using PPPoEKnown Issues 1. VPN traffic is not included in the traffic meter 2. In the Services menu, if the finish port is left blank and a previous entry exists, the previous entry’s finish port is used for the new service’s finish port 3. If the Traffic Meter is enabled, and the Enable Traffic Limit checkbox is checked, a valid limit must be entered. If the default value of zero is left, the WAN port will be disabled (as the limit has been reached). A checkbox to allow no traffic limit will be added in the next release 4. If an illegal MAC address is entered when adding an entry to the Network Data Base, existing entries appear to disappear and the new entry does not get saved. Entries reappear if an entry with a valid MAC address is added 5. For some time zones, including GMT, when the Automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time checkbox on the Schedule page is checked and applied, the checkmark goes away after being appliedUpgrading to the New SoftwareThe upgrade file is: fvl328_2002.imgNETGEAR strongly recommends that you clear the configuration after upgrading by pressing the reset button on the rear panel for ten seconds until the LEDs flash, and then re-entering your configuration information. Please write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.You can upgrade by using the Web interface Router Upgrade menu. 1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape) 2. Access the router (usually http://192.168.0.1) 3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed Netgear FVL328 Firmware 2.0 R02) 4. Write down all configuration settings that you have previously set 5. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade 6. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file “fvl328_2002.img” 7. Click Upload 8. Wait for the router to reboot 9. Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup 10. Click Erase 11. Wait for the router to reboot 12. Reconfigure the router using the settings you wrote downIf problems occur after upgrading, power cycle the router, then press the rear panel pushbutton for at least 10 seconds.
