There is always a problem in finding the right codec package. With AVI Codec Pack Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 problem seems to be solved. With Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 package you can play almost any major audio and video format such as DivX, XviD, OGG and many more.

There are 3 different ways of installing the codec pack:

Minimal: installs DivX 5.11, DivX 5.02 DirectShow, DivX audio, AC3 filter (you can play only the DivX files)

Recommended: includes Xvid, MPEG4, OGG DirectShow, MPEG Layer 3

Full: includes ffdshow, DivX 3.11, 4.12, MPEG Layer 2 (Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 is not recommended because you will get conflicts between the codecs)

Pluses: Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 has all the needed codecs to view the most recent video formats

Drawbacks / flaws: I could not use the package fully installed.

In conclusion: Good codec package for viewing video files. Do not try to compare Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 with ACE Mega Codecs. Avi Codec Pack + 2.1 is not something professional.
